In a heated press conference held in Abuja on Monday, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) launched scathing criticism against Minister Nyesom Wike for his recent appointments of People's Democratic Party (PDP) members from Rivers state into key positions.
The APC chapter expressed deep dissatisfaction with what they termed as a blatant disregard for indigenous people and APC members in the FCT.
Abdulwahab Ekekhide, a prominent APC chieftain, accused Wike of undermining the party's political structure in the FCT and warned of dire consequences if immediate action is not taken. Ekekhide urged President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene and cautioned Wike against further actions that could destabilize the APC's foothold in the FCT.
Isaac David, the youth leader of the FCT APC, echoed Ekekhide's sentiments, emphasizing the party's resolve to withdraw support from President Buhari if their concerns are not addressed.
The brewing political tension underscores the deep-rooted divisions within the FCT and raises questions about the APC's future electoral prospects in the region.
