Tinubu Asleep (1).jpeg
APC women leaders across Nigeria accuse Tinubu's administration of neglecting them after contributing to his presidential victory, alleging lack of rewards, and appointments.

Tensions are simmering within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as women leaders across Nigeria have accused President Bola Tinubu's administration of neglecting them after their contributions to his electoral victory. During a solidarity visit to APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, the women voiced their grievances over being excluded from the gains of party politics.

Patricia Yakubu, the president of the APC women leaders' forum, lamented that no member was considered worthy of a political appointment or post-election reward despite their efforts to ensure Tinubu's victory. "The women have not been compensated for all their pains and sacrifices; we are feeling neglected," Yakubu stated.

The women expressed frustration over receiving only a single bag of rice and a wrapper each after the 2023 elections, with no additional support during the recent Easter, Ramadan, and Sallah festivities. Yakubu criticized the government's decision, stating, "Nothing was given to us during Easter, the Ramadan fasting period, and Sallah festivities. Even the palliatives that were distributed were not given to the women leaders for onward distribution to the grassroots."

Highlighting the challenges faced during the election campaign, Yakubu recalled incidents such as women sleeping on the grass in open spaces, a member's house being demolished by the opposition, and another's son being kidnapped. She underscored the importance of the women's demographic, asserting that they deserve political appointments given their service during the elections.

The forum's leader also accused the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, of distributing N50,000 cash palliatives while excluding the women from the arrangement.
