President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after a week-long absence, ending concerns about his whereabouts following the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. He had addressed the UNGA, emphasizing Nigeria's alignment with the body's principles of peace, security, human rights, and development. As Chairman of ECOWAS, Tinubu sought international assistance to restore democratic governance in Nigeria, combat political and economic challenges, and counter violent extremism in the region.
During his stay in the United States, Tinubu met with Nigerians in the diaspora, encouraging them to return home and embrace a new era in Nigeria's leadership. He also discussed international issues with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, highlighting the illicit siphoning of Africa's mineral resources and calling for action against those involved.
Additionally, Tinubu rang the bell at the National Association of Securities Dealers Automatic Quotation System in New York, underlining Nigeria's presence in the global financial arena. His return to Nigeria has put an end to speculations about his travels and engagements after the UNGA session.
