President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has outlined sweeping reforms aimed at modernizing the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), emphasizing the importance of reshaping institutional culture and capabilities.

At the inaugural Nigeria Police Awards and Commendations ceremony, Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Tinubu, articulated the administration's dedication to equipping law enforcement with the tools and training needed for contemporary policing. Tinubu's declaration of April 7th as National Police Day underscores the significance of honoring the sacrifices and service of police officers nationwide.

Key reforms include investments in training, capacity-building, and upgrading equipment to enhance operational effectiveness. The event drew praise from Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other dignitaries, who lauded the NPF's dedication and called for continued support and improvement in officer welfare.

Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun commended Tinubu's backing for the force and expressed gratitude to officers for their contributions.

Additionally, Solomon Arase, Chairman of the Police Service Commission, advocated for enhanced welfare packages to bolster officer performance. The ceremony highlighted the government's commitment to transforming law enforcement and ensuring public safety.
