Former PDP spokesperson Reno Omokri has declared his intention to vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, shifting his support from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Omokri praised Tinubu's political skills and emphasized the importance of personal interests in politics.
Reno Omokri, a former spokesperson for the People's Democratic Party (PDP), has made headlines by announcing his decision to vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections, marking a significant shift in his political allegiance. Previously a staunch supporter of Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and PDP candidate, Omokri took to social media platform X to express his reasoning for this unexpected change.
In his post, Omokri stated, “If there are three names on the ballot in 2027—Waziri Atiku Abubakar, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Peter Gregory Obi—and God spares my life, I will vote for and work vehemently for the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.” He praised Tinubu’s political acumen, particularly in areas such as loyalty, economic management, dispute resolution, and his ability to forgive. Omokri believes these qualities make Tinubu a superior politician compared to his competitors.
Additionally, in a follow-up tweet, he emphasized that everyone in politics has personal interests, reinforcing that his decision aligns with his own political and personal goals. Omokri’s announcement has sparked discussions about shifting loyalties within Nigerian politics, particularly as the 2027 elections approach.
