The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, asserts that his camp has met all the conditions set by President Bola Tinubu to bring about peace in the politically tumultuous Rivers State. Speaking during a visit to the Oba of Ogbaland in Rivers State, Wike emphasized his commitment to peace and assured the traditional ruler that he would not disappoint.
Acknowledging President Tinubu's intervention in the political face-off between him and his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Wike commended Tinubu's rare stance on promoting peace across party lines.
The resolution follows a truce reached in December 2023, facilitated by Tinubu, where the warring parties agreed to withdraw court cases, drop impeachment proceedings, and recognize specific leadership in the Rivers State House of Assembly. As the situation unfolds, Wike's declaration raises questions about the future trajectory of political stability in Rivers State.
