Rivers Governor Fubara claims one-year achievements surpass Wike's eight-year tenure. Boasts outperforming predecessor, reigniting political rivalry. Reactions from Wike's allies, analysts.

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has claimed that his administration's accomplishments in just one year have surpassed those of his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, during his eight-year tenure. Fubara made these remarks while inaugurating the Andoni section of the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo Unity Road project in Andoni Local Government Area.

"Like I said the other day, we just started. We started about three or four months ago, but I am very happy that if we have to assess ourselves within those three months, we have done better than people who stayed for eight years," Fubara declared, challenging others to dispute his claims. The governor's statement has reignited the political rivalry between him and Wike, who have been at loggerheads since Fubara assumed office. Earlier this week, Fubara boasted of defeating his political enemies, asserting that they now "sleep with their eyes open and restless."

While Fubara did not provide specific details on the projects or areas in which his administration has allegedly outperformed Wike's, his remarks have sparked reactions from Wike's allies and political analysts.

"Governor Fubara's claims are premature and lack substance," said a spokesperson for Wike. "The former governor's legacy speaks for itself, with numerous infrastructure projects and development initiatives that have transformed Rivers State during his tenure."

However, a political analyst, Dr. Amina Sani, cautioned against dismissing Fubara's assertions outright. "It's still early in his administration, but if Fubara can deliver on his promises and accelerate development efforts, it could indeed outshine the previous administration's record," she said.

As the political tensions in Rivers State continue to simmer, the focus remains on the tangible outcomes and the ability of the current administration to address the concerns and aspirations of the people effectively.
