The Action Peoples Party (APP) has expressed deep gratitude to the people of Rivers State and its loyal supporters following a remarkable victory in the recent local government chairmanship elections. The party secured 22 out of 23 available chairmanship positions, a significant win that has sparked celebrations across the state.
The announcement was made by Justice Adolphus Enebeli, Chief Election Officer of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), on Saturday evening in Port Harcourt. In the wake of the results, jubilant APP supporters and even members of the main opposition, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), took to the streets to celebrate.
Residents shared their excitement, expressing hope that this victory would mark the end of political oppression from factions attempting to destabilize the state. The PDP had withdrawn from the election amid internal conflicts between factions led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
APP's national chairman, Barr. Uchenna Nnadi thanked Rivers voters for their trust in the party despite attempts to hinder the elections through court injunctions. He assured citizens that the newly elected chairmen would prioritize their well-being and work towards delivering the positive change they desire. Nnadi emphasized, “Rivers people have spoken. A vote for APP will end political oppression in Rivers State.” The party is now focused on fulfilling its promises to the electorate.
