On Sunday, residents of Lagos State flocked to designated markets across the state to purchase food items at discounted prices as part of the "Ounje Eko" initiative. Videos shared on social media platform X depicted the bustling scenes at these markets, showcasing long queues and crowds of eager buyers. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had announced the commencement of the initiative, which aimed to offer food items at friendly prices in the five divisions of the state starting from March 17.
One user, #TemitopeEbenez4, shared a video showing a lengthy queue at an undisclosed market, dispelling doubts about the initiative's authenticity. Another user, #OneNaijaPatriot, praised the organization and security measures at the Mosan Okunola centre in Alimosho, where they observed less crowd and commendable orderliness.
