Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila announced that the 2025 budget for State House agencies will be determined by a needs assessment to ensure proper funding allocation. This strategy aims to prioritize resources effectively, enhance agency performance, and uphold transparency in procurement processes to support the administration's vision.
In a move aimed at ensuring more effective use of resources, the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, announced that the 2025 budget for State House agencies will be formulated based on a comprehensive needs assessment. Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, Gbajabiamila emphasized the importance of aligning budgetary allocations with the actual requirements of these agencies.
Following a fact-finding tour of several government agencies under the State House's supervision, Gbajabiamila highlighted the need for prioritization due to limited resources. He stated, "In any country, resources are limited. For us, it’s about prioritizing. We need to evaluate where we stand, what the agencies have achieved, and how their mandates align with the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda."
He also raised concerns about the funding inefficiencies in some agencies, suggesting that merging or even scrapping certain agencies could be considered if they are not fulfilling their mandates effectively.
Gbajabiamila reassured staff during his visits to the Nigeria Agriculture and Land Development Agency, Bureau of Public Procurement, Bureau of Public Enterprises, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure that their welfare and working conditions would be improved. He urged them to maintain high standards of innovation, excellence, and professionalism while supporting their leadership.
The Chief of Staff also stressed the importance of transparency in procurement processes, reflecting the administration’s commitment to good governance and accountability. This approach, he said, is critical to realizing the administration's vision and ensuring that the 2025 budget reflects the genuine needs of the agencies under its purview.
