The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), led by President-General Sultan Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has officially declared Wednesday as the first day of Shawwal and Eid day, marking the conclusion of the 2024 Ramadan fast.
The announcement, made by Deputy Secretary-General Prof. Salisu Shehu, comes after the new crescent was not sighted in the Kingdom on Monday, indicating that Ramadan fasting would complete 30 days on Tuesday.
The NSCIA extended wishes for a peaceful and joyous Eid celebration, with prayers for acceptance of fasting and virtuous acts. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had earlier declared Wednesday as the first day of Shawwal and Eid day, aligning with the NSCIA's declaration.
