The Supreme Court of Nigeria has decisively dismissed all three appeals challenging the election victory of Sheriff Oborevwori as the Governor of Delta State. Oborevwori, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), secured victory in the March 18 governorship election, a result initially declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The apex court upheld the earlier judgments from the tribunal and appeal court, reinforcing Oborevwori’s win. The dismissal included an appeal by Ovie Omo-Agege, who failed to substantiate claims of over-voting and electoral law noncompliance.
The unanimous judgment emphasized the inability of the appellants to prove allegations of noncompliance, echoing previous decisions. Oborevwori expressed gratitude on his official X account, recognizing the judiciary as the last hope for ordinary Nigerians.
As the legal battles conclude, he reiterated his commitment to the "MORE agenda" and called for unity among Deltans to propel the state forward.
