The recent Supreme Court decision affirming President Bola Tinubu's victory in the February 2023 election has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deeply disappointed and concerned about the impartiality of the judiciary. The PDP expressed its dismay over the judgment, which it believed went against the Constitution, the Electoral Act, and the guidelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the election.

In a statement from its spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP criticized the Supreme Court for what it saw as a failure to uphold the law and provide substantial justice. The party accused the court of condoning issues of forgery, falsehood, and perjury, raising questions about the judiciary's role as the last bastion of impartiality and justice in the nation.

Despite the disappointment, the PDP encouraged Nigerians not to be disheartened and called for continued efforts to establish a credible electoral system. The party expressed concern that the judgment's impact could have serious consequences for the nation, casting a shadow of doubt over the judiciary's role in upholding the rule of law.

The verdict came after the Supreme Court dismissed the appeals by Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, challenging President Tinubu's electoral victory.
