During the monthly Holy Ghost service themed "Shielded by Fire" at The Redemption City of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), shared a surprising revelation: the church boasts over 200,000 pastors across Nigeria.
In his sermon, Adeboye emphasized the importance of not judging those who have faltered in their faith. He referenced recent media reports about a former RCCG pastor in Ireland allegedly involved in wrongdoing, cautioning against moral self-assurance.
"Even those of you here today, be cautious," Adeboye warned. "I pray that you never stumble."
Drawing on biblical examples like Judas Iscariot among Jesus' twelve disciples, Adeboye underscored the inevitability of individual failings, even within a vast pastor network like the RCCG's.
"If you consider the number of pastors in RCCG in Nigeria alone, today it is more than 200 thousand," Adeboye revealed.
His disclosure prompted contemplation among the congregation about the responsibilities and challenges associated with such a large pastor base. Some pondered the need for robust pastoral oversight, while others reflected on the complexities of faith and human fallibility.
In addition to discussing matters of faith, Adeboye also commented on the recent increases in fuel prices and electricity tariffs in Nigeria, suggesting that the nation's problems may extend beyond natural causes. He cited a prophet's prediction of potential improvements by the end of 2025, adding a socio-political dimension to the conversation.
