Fuad Laguda, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, emerges victorious in the Surulere Federal Constituency 1 Bye-Election, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Laguda secured 11,203 votes, marking a significant shift in the political landscape.

The bye-election follows the departure of Femi Gbajabiamila, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, who assumed the role of Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu mid-2023. Gbajabiamila's resignation prompted the need for a replacement in the Surulere Constituency 1 seat.

As the new APC representative, Laguda steps into the shoes of Gbajabiamila, a long-standing ally of Tinubu. The electoral outcome not only signifies a change in leadership but also raises questions about the future trajectory of political dynamics within Surulere.
