A teenager, Adesogo Promise, has been arraigned before an Iwaro Oka Magistrate Court in Ondo State for allegedly assaulting a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and disrupting school activities. The accused reportedly attacked the corps member, Akomolafe Dickson, who was serving at St. Patrick’s College, Iwaro-Oka.
According to Inspector Kehinde Emmanuel, who led the prosecution, Adesogo not only physically assaulted Akomolafe but also obstructed a police officer, Constable Afolabi Samuel, during an attempt to arrest him. The incident reportedly disrupted academic activities, causing panic among students and staff.
During the court hearing, Adesogo pleaded not guilty to the charges. However, he did not have legal representation. The presiding magistrate, B. I. Ikusika, ordered his remand pending further proceedings and adjourned the case to April 16, 2025.
