President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has agreed to implement a new minimum wage of N70,000 following a meeting between government officials and organized labour, as disclosed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.
The meeting, which included prominent labour leaders such as Joe Ajaero of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Festus Osifo of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), took place in Abuja.
Labour representatives arrived in a 32-seater Coaster bus and convened at the President's office on the first floor. The agreement marks a significant development in Nigeria's labour landscape, aiming to address longstanding concerns about wage levels amidst economic challenges.
