President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, on his victory in the December 7, 2024, elections. The Nigerian leader praised the peaceful election process and commended Ghanaian citizens for demonstrating commitment to democracy. In a phone call to Mahama, Tinubu expressed hope that his second term would enhance stability in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Tinubu also lauded Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for his concession speech, which he said exemplified Ghana’s democratic values. Tinubu acknowledged that Bawumia’s early acceptance of the electoral result reflected Ghana’s commitment to democratic principles. He praised Mahama’s return to power, noting it reflected the trust Ghanaians had in his leadership.
