FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, affirmed President Bola Tinubu's leadership role not only in the All Progressives Congress (APC) but also in Nigeria during a visit by APC leaders from Rivers State. Wike emphasized that President Tinubu, as the country's leader, held the right to prioritize his political party's interests alongside governing the nation. He recognized that political parties serve as vehicles to reach political goals, yet highlighted that the welfare of Nigerians should be paramount in President Tinubu's mind.
Wike stated, "Mr President, having emerged, is not a president of APC but a president of Nigeria. While the president is governing the country, he must also consider the interests of his political party. Nobody can stop that; it is natural."
This acknowledgment by the FCT Minister underscores the multi-faceted role of a national leader and reinforces the notion that political leadership in Nigeria involves balancing party interests with the broader welfare of the nation.
