President Bola Tinubu has appointed new governing councils for the Maritime Academy of Nigeria and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology. The appointments aim to enhance institutional integrity and academic standards. The councils, comprising nine members, are expected to contribute significantly to the institutions' development and progress.

In a move aimed at strengthening the governance of key educational institutions, President Bola Tinubu has appointed nine new members to the governing councils of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria in Oron, Akwa Ibom State, and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology in Zaria, Kaduna State.

According to a statement released on August 8, 2024, by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, President Tinubu emphasized that the newly appointed council members are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity and dedication. Their roles will be crucial in enhancing the structural and academic standards of the institutions.

For the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, the new governing council members are:
  • Kehinde Akinola, appointed as Chairman
  • Shehu Maigari Doguwa, Member
  • Samuel Isichei, Member
  • Faisal Lawal Halidu, Member
The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology's new governing council includes:
  • Anthony Manzo, Chairman
  • Ngozi Okuoma, Member
  • Durungunwa Abdulmalik, Member
  • Biodun Taiwo, Member
  • Florence Toyin Olorunfemi, Member
President Tinubu's appointments are seen as a strategic move to drive improvements and ensure effective management in these critical educational institutions.
