Former Presidential aide, Tolu Ogunlesi, criticized the steep price increase of the antibiotic Augmentin, which was shared by a doctor on social media with a staggering price tag of N57,000.
Tolu expressed concern over the "crazy price-gouging" on Augmentin and suggested that doctors prescribing it in the face of such exorbitant costs should provide explanations.
He emphasized that there are alternative, cheaper brands of antibiotics with the same active ingredients as Augmentin that are ten times more affordable.
The doctor's initial post highlighted the financial strain faced even by medical professionals, lamenting the inability to afford the basic antibiotic on their salary. Tolu's comments shed light on the broader issue of rising healthcare costs and the need for accessible alternatives in Nigeria's pharmaceutical market.
