Amusan dominated the competition, finishing with an impressive time of 12.33 seconds. She faced a strong challenge from Puerto Rico's Jasmine Camacho-Quin, who completed the race in 12.38 seconds. US athlete Kendra Harrison secured third place in the highly competitive event.

Tobi Amusan's journey to this success was notable. In 2021, she made history by winning her first Diamond League Trophy with a time of 12.42 seconds. She continued her winning streak by clinching the trophy once more in Zurich last year, recording a time of 12.29 seconds.

However, Amusan's latest achievement comes on the heels of a challenging period. She faced suspension for doping violations by the Athletics Integrity Unity (AIU) after missing three tests in 12 months. Fortunately, she was later cleared of any violations, receiving the news just three days before the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, where she competed but could not defend her title and finished sixth in the final at the National Athletics Centre.
