The Digest:

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have discovered and safely detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) in Mairari town along the Gajiram axis of Borno State. The device was detected at about 9 am on April 17 by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team deployed from a Forward Operating Base. The IED was found at the edge of the town's exit gate. A controlled detonation was carried out without incident, and the area was scanned for other explosives.

Key Points:
  • The device may have been planted by insurgents before troops arrived.
  • The EOD team prevented potential civilian or military casualties.
  • Security in the area remains calm but unpredictable.
  • Ongoing military operations aim to secure communities and key routes.
  • The successful detonation highlights improved counter-IED capabilities.

Security forces continue to clear key routes as insurgents remain capable of planting explosives.
