Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, Mr David Greene, disclosed in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the embassy has undertaken interviews with more than 150,000 Nigerians, in addition to 30,000 students this year.
The interviews aim to address the significant backlog resulting from COVID-19, with hundreds of thousands of students having the opportunity to seek U.S. visas. Mr. Greene highlighted the embassy's progress, including the implementation of a five-year term for visas to the U.S. starting in March.
While acknowledging existing challenges, he assured visa applicants that the embassy is committed to resolving issues related to visas. He encouraged prospective travelers to apply early, emphasizing the importance of tying visa requests to specific events to facilitate the process.
The mission is dedicated to ensuring that individuals in need of U.S. visas receive the necessary support, and Mr. Greene expressed confidence that visa-related challenges will soon be addressed.
