Passengers aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight bound for Abuja experienced an unexpected detour when the plane mistakenly landed in Asaba, Delta state, instead.
The confusion unfolded when the cabin crew announced the arrival in Abuja, leading passengers to later discover the error. The flight was redirected to Abuja after spending around half an hour on the Asaba tarmac.
The pilot attributed the incident to a "honest mistake" caused by a mix-up in the flight plan. Initially, some passengers speculated about undisclosed issues until the pilot clarified the situation. United Nigeria Airlines later defended the diversion, citing bad weather conditions as the reason for the temporary change in destination.
The airline acknowledged that a miscommunication occurred when the cabin crew made the wrong announcement upon landing in Asaba, causing confusion among passengers.
