Non-teaching staff members from universities nationwide, represented by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), have appealed to President Bola Tinubu for assistance in releasing their four-month withheld salaries from the previous administration.

At their National Executive Council meeting, the workers emphasized that the timely availability of these funds is crucial for them to celebrate Christmas as anticipated.

Despite President Tinubu's recent directive to pay the withheld salaries, academic and non-academic staff are yet to receive their payments, prompting SSANU to express concerns about the delay. In a communiqué, SSANU President Comrade Mohammed Ibrahim urged the government to expedite the payment to restore confidence among its members.

The union leader also celebrated the withdrawal of universities from the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) platform, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts in transitioning to a new payment system. Additionally, he called for implementing the government's approved wage increase for university workers. The situation highlights the ongoing challenges faced by university staff and the pressing need for resolution
