Former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has criticized Nigerians for their apparent indifference and lack of reaction to critical issues. Speaking at an event in Lagos, Amaechi expressed his frustration, stating that Nigerians fail to address significant concerns and continue voting for politicians who have allegations of theft, certificate forgery, and other misconduct.
Amaechi's comments come after he placed second in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections, with Bola Tinubu winning the presidential poll. He pointed out that politicians rarely deny such allegations, yet Nigerians do not hold them accountable.
In his speech, Amaechi questioned Nigerians' inaction, saying, "Nigerians don’t react to anything. Has any politician told you he is not a thief? Which politician told you they went to university? Nigerians know and still vote for them, so what’s your problem? Nothing bothers Nigerians, so why should I waste my time?"
He further expressed concern about the lack of action on serious issues, while people in other countries would organize mass protests. Amaechi even made a controversial remark about Nigerians' passivity, saying, "I’m praying for you every day that you should continue to commit suicide so that by the time I wake up one day, all of you have died so that I can now reap the benefits of your death by taking those things."
