A commercial vehicle (Danfo) met with a tragic accident on Wednesday on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, as confirmed by Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, Lagos Territorial Coordinator of NEMA.

The collision caused two passengers, both adults, to be thrown off the 18-seater bus and into the Lagos lagoon. Marine Police are currently conducting a search operation for the missing passengers.

The crash occurred near the Adeniyi Adele axis towards Lagos Island when the driver, reportedly speeding, lost control and hit the bridge rails. The impact of the crash led to the passengers being forcefully ejected into the lagoon.

Emergency services have evacuated the injured to a nearby hospital as investigations into the accident continue.
