Sean "Diddy" Combs apologizes for disturbing 2016 video showing alleged physical assault on ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura amid ongoing legal battles over abuse claims.
Sean "Diddy" Combs has issued a public apology for a resurfaced 2016 video that appears to show him physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura. The disturbing footage, obtained by CNN, depicts Combs chasing Ventura out of a hotel room, grabbing her by the neck, throwing her to the ground, kicking her, and throwing an object at her.
In an Instagram post, Combs acknowledged hitting "rock bottom" at the time and expressed remorse for his "inexcusable" behavior. "I take full responsibility for my actions in that video," he said. "I was disgusted then when I did it. I'm disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab."
While the Los Angeles District Attorney's office stated they cannot prosecute due to the statute of limitations, Ventura's attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, condemned Combs' "disturbing and predatory behavior," praising Ventura's courage in bringing the matter to light.
The video's release comes amid ongoing legal battles between Combs and Ventura, who last year accused the rapper of repeated rape, physical abuse, and sex trafficking during their decade-long relationship. They settled that case, but Combs now faces multiple new lawsuits alleging similar misconduct.
Despite Combs' apology, the resurfaced footage has reignited concerns about his treatment of women and raised questions about accountability in the music industry.
