Parts of the popular Ace Mall in Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, collapsed following a powerful explosion that shattered windows in various locations, including homes and buildings throughout the city.
Before 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the explosion triggered widespread panic as thousands of residents reported hearing and feeling the vibrations. The cause of the explosion remains unknown, and residents are urged to steer clear of the Total Filling Station precincts in Sango, adjacent to Ventura Mall. While there are no reports of a tremor, preliminary investigations suggest the possibility of an explosion at a nearby gas station.
The impact was felt across several areas, including Alaro/Poly Ibadan, UI, Moniya, Awotan, Apete, Ojoo, and Jeje. Authorities are actively working to determine the source and extent of the damage.
