In the face of mounting criticism over the performance of Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro, a member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Board, Hon. Nse Essien, has emphasized that the decision to retain or dismiss Peseiro lies with the Sports Ministry, not the NFF.

In an interview shared by Ojora Babatunde on @Ojbsports, Essien addressed calls for Peseiro's termination, citing the NFF's outstanding payments to the coach. Essien emphasized the contractual obligations, stating, "We have to respect Jose Peseiro’s contract. If we had the money to give to him (pay him off), we are going to relieve him. We are not happy."

The NFF's financial constraints, compounded by a string of disappointing results, have fueled public discontent. With only 2 points in the World Cup Qualifiers, pressure mounts on the team ahead of crucial matches.
