During a coroner's court session in Lagos State, Omowunmi Aloba, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, revealed the strained relationship between her and her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba. While testifying in the inquest into her husband's death, Omowunmi disclosed that she had initially shared a close bond with her father-in-law, but tensions emerged after the birth of their son, Liam.

The rift between Omowunmi and Mohbad's father intensified when the singer chose not to hold Liam's naming ceremony in Ikorodu, where his father resided. Accusing Omowunmi of influencing Mohbad's decision, the father brought various women to their home on several occasions, leading to confrontation with Omowunmi's mother.

Moreover, Omowunmi shed light on the challenges her husband faced before his untimely death. Mohbad had endured humiliation, harassment, and bullying from his friends and members of Malian Records, his record label.

This ongoing inquest, initiated following controversies surrounding Mohbad's death, began on October 13 at the Ikorodu Magistrates' Court in Lagos. It was set in motion after his body was exhumed for further investigations into the circumstances of his passing, with the involvement of human rights lawyer Femi Falana's law firm. The singer, aged 27, passed away on September 12, with his burial occurring the following day. The coroner expressed condolences to Omowunmi, promising that justice would be served in the case.
