Nyesom Wike revealed that Peter Obi’s camp lobbied for his support ahead of the 2023 presidential election, but he declined. Wike criticized Obi's supporters for their attacks, reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu, and exposed conspiracies within the PDP aimed at undermining him before the 2027 election.
In a recent address, Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, revealed that Peter Obi’s camp lobbied for his support in the 2023 presidential election. However, Wike declined to endorse the Labour Party candidate, stating that the refusal sparked criticism from Obi's supporters.
Speaking at a luncheon in Port Harcourt on October 19, 2024, Wike disclosed that Obi visited him twice, leading to speculations of an alliance. Despite the pressure, Wike stood firm and chose to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, President Bola Tinubu. He expressed no regrets for his decision and criticized opposition figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Obi’s camp for their ongoing attacks. He emphasized that his stance was rooted in opposing injustice and called for equity and fairness.
Additionally, Wike alleged a conspiracy within the PDP aimed at undermining him ahead of the 2027 election. He dismissed the efforts of his political adversaries and reiterated his commitment to his values, warning them of their impending failure. Wike also clarified that he had no personal ties with PDP acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, despite claims of association.
