Amidst the legal tussle between Governor Yahaya Bello and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the American International School of Abuja has made a significant refund of $760,910.84, which was part of the $845,852 allegedly deposited by Bello to cover the educational expenses of his children for 14 years.
This development comes in the wake of EFCC's prosecution of Bello for purportedly defrauding the state of N80.2 billion to pay his children’s school fees, a claim vehemently denied by the ex-governor.
The refunded amount was paid in two tranches, with the school retaining some fees for its services, as per a mutual agreement with the EFCC.
Nigerians have expressed shock and concern over the revelation that such a substantial sum was intended to cover 14 years of school fees, prompting widespread speculation and scrutiny into the matter.
With the investigation ongoing, questions linger over the intricate web of allegations and counter-accusations between Bello, EFCC, and the American school, underscoring the need for clarity and accountability in this unfolding saga.
