Yomi Fabiyi led a protest outside the Ikorodu Magistrate Court as Mohbad's family attended the coroner's inquest into his mysterious death. The inquest, which resumed after the singer's body was exhumed for an autopsy, aims to uncover the circumstances surrounding his passing and demands for justice continue.
In a powerful display of solidarity, Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi led a protest outside the Ikorodu Magistrate Court on September 11, 2024, as the family of late singer Mohbad arrived for a coroner's inquest into his mysterious death. The inquest, which resumed after starting on September 29, 2023, aims to uncover the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing on September 12, 2023. After being buried the following day, his body was exhumed for an autopsy, which did not reveal conclusive evidence of the cause of death. However, a toxicology report identified the presence of Diphenhydramine, an antihistamine, but not at lethal levels.
Mohbad's family has disputed the findings and is calling for an independent investigation. Monisola Odumosu, part of the Aloba family’s legal team, confirmed that a two-part autopsy is ongoing, with toxicology and histology tests yet to be completed. During the court session, Mohbad’s parents, Joseph and Abosede Aloba, were seen arriving separately, while key figures such as Naira Marley and Sam Larry were notably absent despite being summoned as witnesses.
The police have identified Feyisola Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who injected Mohbad, as a prime suspect in his death. The coroner magistrate has mandated that witnesses be summoned through national newspapers and social media to ensure their appearance at future proceedings, emphasizing the ongoing demand for justice for the late artist.
