Nollywood actor and self-proclaimed cleric Yul Edochie has stirred up a debate on marriage and divorce with his recent comments, asserting that there's no shame in ending a marriage that doesn't work.
In an interview with White Pearl Studios, the outspoken actor emphasized individual happiness over societal expectations, stating that people can marry multiple times if it brings them fulfillment. "For me, marriage is not a do-or-die thing. If you see it is not working, walk away respectfully," Edochie remarked.
He encouraged people to prioritize their happiness and not succumb to societal pressure, asserting, "Don’t let anybody tell you what’s good for you. Find out what works for you." Edochie's remarks come amidst his marital controversies, including his contested divorce from his first wife, May Edochie, and his controversial second marriage to Judy Austin. While his views may be contentious, they shed light on evolving attitudes towards marriage and personal autonomy in contemporary society.
