The EFCC has blown open an employment scam in Gombe state which has seen thousands of civil servants issued fake employment letters.
Aminu Aliyu, EFCC's Head of Operations at Gombe Zonal office said it was discovered that "1, 022 people were issued fake letters of appointment across all the local government areas of Gombe state,”
Each candidate involved paid between N120,000 and N150,000, depending on the ministry of choice, he said. “This amounts to N13.162 million."
16 people have been arrested in connection to the crime.
“Those arrested and interrogated will soon be prosecuted, while four business centres involved in production of fake documents had been sealed,” he said.
