#NigeriaDecides is not over as intense lobbying has commenced for the position of Senate President. 5 lawmakers are currently at the front of the struggle. They are:

• George Akume (Benue Northwest)
• Bukola Saraki (Kwara Central)
• Ahmad Lawan (Yobe North)
• Danjuma Goje (Gombe Central)
• Adamu Abdullahi (Nasarawa West)

4 out of the 5 are former Governors. Lawan is the only one on the list who isn't a former Governor. 3 out of 5 on the list are from the North Central (Akume, Saraki and Abdullahi) . 2 out of 5 are from the North East (Goje and Lawan).

3 out of 5 (Akume, Saraki and Abdullahi)were formerly members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP before they defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC. 4 out of 5 are Muslims (Saraki, Lawan Goje, and Abudullahi).

Some APC leaders are reportedly pushing for Akume. Former Governors and Governors-elect are rooting for Saraki. Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Northeast APC governors and leaders are rooting for Lawan.
