One of the nationalised banks, Enterprise Bank has sacked an estimate 150 of its workers and is expected to sack more in coming days.

The affected workers are part of the 250 staff nationwide scheduled for rationalisation. The sack cut across all units of the bank. This has caused fear among workers as the management could call on anyone to resign or face sack.

The Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI) has confirmed the mass sack.

One of the affected staff, who spoke to NAN on the condition of anonymity, said he was sacked without reason. He said the bank was mostly retrenching junior workers because they refuse to reduce salaries of those in higher positions.
