Metro 4 Docked over Attack on Fayose’s Campaign Office

The police on Tuesday arraigned four men-- Adedeji Adesokan, 37; Richard Apolola, 41; Owoju Ayodele, 40; and Adeniyi Adedipe, 42,in an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for attempted murder.

The State Counsel, Mr Samuel Osobu, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 7 at about 5p.m. when they allegedly shot at the Ayo Fayose Campaign Office in Adebayo area of Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that the accused attempted to unlawfully kill one Olumide Gabriel through gunshot.

Osobu said that the accused damaged the louvres of the campaign office as well as the vehicles parked in the office complex. According to him, the offence contravenes sections 320 and 451 of the Criminal Code Cap C16, Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty when their pleas were taken.

The prosecutor asked for an adjournment to enable him send the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

The defence counsel, Mr Layo Ogundipe, requested for bail of the accused persons.

The prosecutor, however, opposed the bail application, saying that the offences were grievous.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Idowu Ayenimo, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N250, 000 and two sureties in like sum. The magistrate adjourned the case till May 9 for mention.
