President Muhammadu Buhari during his address at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, March 24, 2016 listed the following as what makes him afraid.

- On conflicting signals from Niger Delta militants, where militants in the Niger Delta continuing sabotaging of oil facilities
- crash in oil prices and how it led to the failure of 27 of the nation’s 36 states to pay salaries, he faulted the failure of the preceding administration to make adequate arrangements for the rainy day
- Because he did not succeed in the election in Kogi, Bayelsa, Rivers as the political leaders of the ruling party.
- Political killings in the country at the expense of his administration
- Corruption, the discoveries and and how it is fighting back.
