President Muhammadu Buhari and his cabinet team are planning on the sale of National assets to fund 2016 budget and revive the ailing economy.

The 2016 budget worth over 6.07 trillion naira and the year almost out.

Nigeria’s 2016 Budget is based on a crude oil benchmark price of $38 per barrel and a production estimate of 2.2 million barrels per day for 2016.

The budget marked as budget of 'change' contained several social economic plans including the monthly payment of N5000 to vulnerable youths in the society.

Here are 7 other things President Muhammadu Buhari can do instead of selling Nigeria's national ASSETS.

- Cut Salaries. Reduce political appointee

President Muhammadu Buhari can solve the economic crisis if the government come out sincerely to cut down

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed recently debunked DailyTrust report of using 6 vehicles in his convoy saying there are five.
A statement by his press secretary, Joseph Mutah, said the minister he moves around in a convoy of five vehicles if moving with his aides and four without his aides.

If the Presidency and lawmakers can reduce political appointees, then burden will be ease on the nation's economy

- Borrow Local and International

The government can look outward for an external borrowing plan to revive the cash-strapped African economy out of the recession. “Low cost, long-term loans should be sought from the World Bank, African Development Bank, China’s Exim Bank and the Japan International Cooperation Agency and locally as well instead of selling an asset that can help to reduce the burden of these loans later in life.

- Have a stable and working Policies

Since the inception of President Muhamamdu Buhari, apart from the economy slipping into recession, one major aspect of the government that needs urgent attention is Policy formulation and implementation. The government's policies both political and economic seems not working and the President Buhari-led team should utmost things to bring aboard a team of technocrats in order to push for an all encompassing policies that will end economic issues.

- Advise Outright Cut in National Assembly Jumbo Pay

Recent investigations by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) revealed that the 469 members of the 8th national assembly have at least 2,570 aides.

Out of the number, 700 aides work for lawmakers in the senate, while the remaining 1,870 are engaged by house of representatives members.

In addition to the regular aides, the principal officers of both chambers have special assistants, senior special assistants and special advisers of varying numbers.

This category of aides, it was learnt, have a monthly salary of a minimum of N950,000 but was reduced to N400, 000 by the current management of the assembly. All the aides are paid from the coffers of the assembly.

If the government can be sincere with itself and cut their wastage expenses on Legislative aides, the lesser the burden of nation's wealth.

- Implementation of TSA across Board

At the National Executive Committee meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, march 2016, President Muhammadu Buhari said the Federal Government has so far mopped up over N3 trillion as revenue accruals since the policy of Treasury Single Account commenced.

He also responded to public demands for accountability for monies recovered from indicted former government officials and others facing corruption charges, assuring that details of such recoveries will be made public very soon so that Nigerians will know that efforts made were not in vain.

Government will save more funds from the TSA policy if it is implemented across the board. The National Assembly is yet to implement the Treasury single account yet, billions of Naira are dozed from the national coffer for the arm of government with less accountability. The budget of the National assembly is also still been screwed in secrecy.

- Cash recovered from looters

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said the looted fund recovered so far by government is about N78 billion, and 3 million dollars.

If this is not political statement, then the government should work out modalities on how to use the fund judiciously at rescuing the ailing nation from economic recession.
