Irate youths in Kankia town in Kankia LGA in Katsina State on Tuesday killed Dike Ocha, the 50-year-old pastor of ECWA church for allegedly murdering six-year-old girl, Fatima Yusuf.
The youth also set both the church and the pastor’s house ablaze.
It was gathered that Fatima had been declared missing for four days, but her dead body was later found close to the residence of the pastor with her mutilated and her private parts removed.
The youth mischievously concluded that the body was dumped by the pastor and hence, attacked him.
They also set the church and the pastor’s house ablaze according to reports.
The Katsina State commissioner of police, Muhammad Hurdi, confirmed the incident, explaining that the attackers presumed the pastor to be the killer of the girl and so, took the laws into their hands by setting him ablaze.
“It is unthinkable to assume that the pastor having killed the girl for whatever purpose, would go ahead to dump her body near his house. This is the work of some mischief-makers who wanted to create the impression that the pastor committed the crime. But we will investigate the matter to bring perpetrators to book,” Hurdi enthused.
He according to Leadership also said that the Eze Igbos of Kankia who was at the residence of the pastor at the time of the attack escaped death narrowly, as he was also attacked by the rampaging youths.
His properties were however set ablaze by the youths.
