The UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, on Sunday expressed concern on another attack on a convoy of the AU-UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) near Kabkabiya, North Darfur which led to the death of one Rwandan peacekeeper.
Ban’s spokesperson, Martin Nesirky, in a statement, said “the Secretary-General expresses his sincere condolences to the family of the fallen peacekeeper, and to the government of the Republic of Rwanda.”
According to the statement, Ban condemns in the strongest terms, this attack on UNAMID and expects the government of Sudan to take swift action to bring the perpetrators of this and previous attacks on UNAMID to justice.
