Nigeria's Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, has admitted the efforts of ex President Goodluck Jonathan's administration in the completion of the Abuja-Kaduna railway.

The rail line, the first of its kind in Nigeria, had been commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday amid fanfare.

Reacting, the PDP had issued a statement saying the current administration shouldn't take credit for the project as it had been completed by the Jonathan administration.

Amaechi however held his ground, saying the APC government put a lot of efforts into the completion of the project, but he recognized the part played by Jonathan.

“The rail contract was awarded by President Obasanjo, partially executed by President Jonathan and completed by President Buhari,” Mr. Amaechi said. “The rail stations, the signaling, the communications and part of d tracks were done and completed by the Buhari administration."
