The Nigerian Police force, Imo state command has arrested a Catholic priest for unlawful possession of firearms. The priest whose identity was not disclosed is said to be overseeing one of the prominent Parishes in Dikenafai, Ideato South Local Government area, Imo State.
The priest had allegedly threatened the lives of his parishioners who in return tipped off security operatives. The guns which were recovered from his private residence include a pump action rifle, one double-barrelled gun and a locally-made pistol.
According to DAILY POST, the problem started when after some armed robbers reportedly attacked the priest in his official residence and he openly accused some prominent citizens of the area of masterminding the robbery.
The police have since commenced investigation into the matter.
