Aljazeera reports that the opposition is calling on citizens to embark on strike.

“Opposition parties call on the Congolese people to hold a dead city strike (general strike) on August 23,” said a statement on an opposition website.

The opposition wants Kabila to end his 15-year rule in December as mandated by the constitution.
