A Family Court sitting at Abule Egba, a suburb of Lagos, on Wednesday cautioned but discharged a 10-year-old girl accused of injuring her classmate on the buttocks with a sharp pencil.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, said that though the offence was a serious one, the court discharged the girl because of her age.
Elias, who heard the case in his chamber, cautioned the pupil against engaging in such act in future.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Rachael Williams, had submitted that the offence was committed on March 19 at a public primary school at Iyana Ipaja.
"The child set a sharp pencil on the seat of her friend; unknowingly, the friend sat on it, and this caused her to bleed profusely",she said.
