A call has again gone to the Federal Government, to “begin the process of creating additional state in the South East geo-political zone and bring the zone at par with others of the country.”
The Imo State Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Ezechinyere Chukwu, made the passionate appeal after inaugurating the Ehime Mbano Chapter of the Igbo body.
“The creation of an additional state in the South East zone will assuage frayed nerves and reduce agitation against marginalization,” Chukwu said.
While recalling that the creation of an additional state in the zone was recommended by the 2014 National Conference, Chukwu however lamented that the non-creation of the sixth state was inequitable and most unfair.
“The non-creation of another state from the South East is inequitable, unfair and crass display of double standards, as what is good to the goose is also good for the gander,” Chukwu said.
