Punch Reports that the Deji of Akure, Oba Adebiyi of Akure, capital of Ondo state, is dead.
It is believed that the monarch passed away at about 4am this morning following unknown complications at press time.
Oba Adebiyi became ruler of Akureland three years ago after his predecessor was killed during a street fight with one of his (the former monarch’s) wives.
While his death has been confirmed, it will not be publicly announced until after seven days, in accordance with tradition.
